NZI strengthens leadership capability with two senior appointments

NZI has announced two senior appointments that further strengthen its Property and Liability team’s capability and reinforce its commitment to supporting brokers and customers in an increasingly complex insurance market.

Troy Sexton has been appointed Executive Manager, Portfolio Performance and Strategy and will join NZI on 20 July, while Kent Chaplin will join the business in September as Head of Liability.

About the appointments

In a newly created role, Troy Sexton will lead NZI's Property portfolio strategy, performance and underwriting governance, working across underwriting, pricing, product and finance to optimise portfolio outcomes and balance risk and growth. He will join NZI’s leadership team. 

Troy joins NZI from Everest Insurance, where he established and led the company's Property – Asia Pacific business. Prior to this appointment, he spent 18 years with ACE and Chubb, including as Chubb’s Chief Underwriting Officer for Property - Asia Pacific, where he helped lead the property portfolio across 12 countries. 

As Head of Liability, Kent Chaplin will lead NZI's end-to-end Liability proposition, bringing together portfolio strategy, underwriting, claims, distribution and market engagement under a single leadership role.

Kent brings more than 30 years' experience spanning insurance, reinsurance, law and speciality markets. Most recently Group CEO of Delta Insurance Group, he has also held significant international leadership positions, including CEO of Lloyd's Asia Pacific.
